AYUDA PARA APRENDER INGLES...

Queridos Padres:

Quiero compartir con ustedes un website el cual es muy efectivo para ayudar a sus hijos con el aprendizaje del inglés.  Puede acceder el website http://www.starfall.com. Este website le ayudará a sus hijos con la pronunciación, gramática y práctica del idioma. Se los recomiendo para niveles de grados K al grado 5.  Le incluyo un video para que vean como funciona. Espero les ayuda para que sus estudiantes sean exitosos en la clase de inglés. -Sra. Soto

GRAMMAR LESSON TODAY!

Dear Parents of K-1, K-2, 1-1 & 1-2:

Today, I showed the School House Rock videos in English class.  The purpose was to introduce and review grammar with your children.  We heard songs, saw cartoons that explained: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and interjections.  The kids really enjoyed watching it. I had them repeat in English what they saw and even the children from Kindergarten remembered many of the characters in the video.

I was very impressed with how much they retain when exposed to educational videos.  I will continue to use this visual tool which enhances learning while having fun.

Overall, they had a good day today in English class.  Please remember to pack Unit 3 books for 1-1 and 1-2 classes as we will continue reading on Monday. Have a great weekend! - Mrs. Soto ;-)

Taking a Break....

My Dear Students & Parents:

Just a little update on my part.  I am taking a break for now until my next substitution which most likely will be end of February when Mrs. Figueroa will leave on maternity to have her baby.  God willing I will be seeing all of you in school then.

If anyone is interested in tutoring after school hours, please connect with Carmen or Dagmara in the school office.  If you need tutoring outside of school, I am available in my home for a fee of $10.00 per hour.  Either way, if you have the need I can assist you.

But, the best tutor for learning English is yourself.  Read books, listen to music, watch movies and shows on TV that speak only English so as to learn pronunciation and vocabulary.  It is really up to you to put in the time and effort to learn.   You can check out websites such as: www.starfall.com or at  www.youtube.com check out School House Rock videos.  Also, the Rosetta Stone learning CD's are available for sale at Amazon.com. You can be your own English teacher!
